2017 Board of Governors Election Results Announced

SSPC: The Society for Protective Coatings is pleased to announce the results of the 2017 Board of Governors election. In total, two postions were up for election, including one open position and one incumbent position.

In the demographic of "Coating Contractor", an open position, the winning candidate was: 

Don Holle
Vice President & Quality System Manager
Abhe & Svoboda, Inc.

Mr. Holle is the Vice President and Quality System Manager of Abhe & Svoboda, Inc. headquartered in Jordan, Minnesota. Abhe & Svoboda is an SSPC QP 1, QP 2, and QS 1 certified contractor.

One incumbent was also up for re-election in the "Other Product Supplier" demographic. In that contest, Jay Kranker from Aggreko-North America was re-elected by the membership and will begin his second term as a board member.

In other Board activity, the term of James King from John B. Conomos, Inc. ends on June 30, 2017. Mr. King served on the Board for two terms in the demographic of “Coating Contractor” and also served as President. He has been appointed by the Board as an Ex-Officio for two years to complete his work on various financial committees.

Beginning July 1, 2017 the new SSPC Board of Governors President will be Mr. Brian Skerry of The Sherwin-Williams Company. Garry Manous of Atsalis Bros. Painting becomes President-Elect, Joe Walker of Elcometer becomes Vice President, and Gunnar Ackx from SCICON Worldwide will serve as Immediate Past-President.

Terms for new and re-elected Board members begin on July 1, 2017. Please see below for an explanation of SSPC Board Of Governors member terms as written in SSPC-by-Laws:

"The normal term of office for Board of Governor members shall be four (4) years. The term of office will begin on July 1 and members will be elected/re-elected on this basis. Any Governor shall not be elected to more than two (2) consecutive four (4) year terms, or eight (8) consecutive years unless they are elected by the Board as an officer and must be extended to fulfill their role through Immediate Past President (see Article VI. Section 9). Governors shall continue in office for their entire term unless they resign, are removed, or are otherwise unable to fulfill an unexpired term of a member of the Board for whom they were appointed by the President and approved by the Board (Art. IV.Sec 10)."
