SSPC India Chapter Celebrates 1st Anniversary
The SSPC India Chapter recently celebrated their one-year anniversary at a Foundation Day Meeting in Mumbai, India. The chapter was also the recipient of the SSPC 2011 Outstanding International Chapter Award.
“We would like to strengthen our bond with you,” said Anil Singh, Secretary of the India Chapter. “It is our endeavor to bring together all of those who are connected with corrosion in some way or another.” Dr. B. Duari, Trustee of the India Chapter, reminisced about how the idea to form the chapter came about when he went to Dubai in 2010 for an SSPC exam. “We discussed how we could start an India Chapter and the Chapter was born last year.” He went on to state, “SSPC is the only non-profit association that focuses solely on the protection and preservation of concrete, steel, and other industrial and marine structures through the use of high-performance coatings. We don’t dilute our focus by getting involved in other corrosion control technologies. Coatings and linings are all we do.”
Sandeep Mitra, Vice Chairman of the India Chapter, said, “This Chapter will benefit the coatings industry immensely.I am sure we will make tremendous progress in the years to come, and many more paint companies will become our members and SSPC—India Chapter will grow stronger day by day!”
