Meet the Brand New SSPC

SSPC LogoWhen you're lucky enough to experience success, you keep asking yourself, "How can I keep this streak going?" Of course, we all know that luck doesnít just happen. The reality is that it is a combination of many factors, not the least of which is hard work. At SSPC, the past few years have been successful. Membership is up, training programs are popular, and SSPC certifications are widely recognized by both owners and professionals as measures of high achievement. Still, everyday we learn more. SSPC members' needs are constantly evolving, and we are constantly striving to meet them. Nevertheless, the question always arises: Are we doing all that we can for our members?

The short answer is: We can always be doing more. More research, more services, more programs - more leading. And that is what brings us here.

As the marketplace has changed, the needs of SSPC members have changed. There are greater demands on our time as professionals to be sure, but there is also greater demand on our time as private citizens as well. Whether it's family, leisure activities, or extracurricular interests, we often find ourselves wishing there were more hours in the day, days in the week, and months in the year.

In recognizing this, SSPC is taking steps to make sure that our members get what they need in their professional lives from our organization, and that we are always in a position to respond to and even determine the changes that occur in our industry.

Toward that end, we are changing the way that SSPC does business. Based on more than a year of study, including member surveys, strategic planning sessions, market research, Board suggestions, and staff discussions, SSPC has begun to implement a new plan - and it all begins with our new logo.

Throughout the next few months, you will see the new SSPC brand appearing everywhere, including on our web site, business forms and marketing materials. If you attended the Annual Meeting at PACE 2007 and if you're already familiar with SSPC, then you know about SSPC's vision for the industry.

  • SSPC will be the worldwide acknowledged resource and authority for protective coatings technology and information.

This vision remains unchanged, but the new brand is a reflection of our desire to become much more than what we are. It's about seeking opportunity for our members. It's about innovating. It's about leading the industry into the future.

The new SSPC Brand Identity has been designed to capture the forward thinking, evolving and progressive nature of the coatings industries. Taken in total, the identity purposely evokes a "flag" or "banner", which firmly and proudly defines the association as the leader and standard bearer for the coatings industries.

The font and color chosen for SSPC also boldly proclaims this leadership position, as well as presenting a modern approach that is adaptable to change. The Gold, Red and Blue stripes present in the "Banner" each symbolize this attitude, honoring the past, while looking towards tomorrow. The Gold evokes the history of SSPC and its home, the City of Bridges, Pittsburgh, PA. Red is the center, the bold proclamation of leadership and modern attitudes. While Blue represents the future, the 'sky is no longer the limit' and SSPC is ready to meet the challenges of tomorrow.

During the next several months, SSPC will be phasing out the use of the old logo. Old letterhead, envelopes, brochures, and other business materials will be used until they are gone. The SSPC web site will be immediately updated with the new logo, as will SSPC advertisements. For organizational members, individual members, SSPC certified contractors, and SSPC certified professionals; new logos will be made available for your use as well.
