NIOSH Proposes Risk Reduction Through Job Design
Comments on draft plan accepted through August 22.
The National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) has released a draft guidance document that encourages the process of "designing out" hazards and risks in a proactive manner rather than addressing them after the fact. The document addresses tools, equipment, processes, organization of work, and the construction and design of facilities. NIOSH is committed to the project through 2014. It has $800,000 in funding for the draft in this current fiscal year.
The document, which was designed in cooperation with the American Society of Safety Engineers, is open for public comment until August 22.
