QP Programs


Technical Standards Library Requirements


Minimum requirements for QP 1, 2, 3, 6 and 8

  • Office and key management and production personnel must have access to and be aware of current versions of project specifications, engineering standards, Product Data and MSD Sheets, Standard and Safe Operating Procedures for equipment, Industry standards (e.g. SSPC, ASTM, NACE, AWWA, API) regulations (e.g. DOL, Workers Compensation, OSHA, EPA, other federal, state or local agencies having jurisdiction over the job site or shop) applicable to the specific projects a contractor or shop performs for its customers.
  • Hard paper copy, current versions of applicable standards, regulations, specifications, data sheets, etc., must be available to personnel at the job site during the daily course of production and quality control operations. There must be evidence of their use at the job site.

Minimum Requirements for QP 2 Certified Contractors

SSPC's Painting Contractor Certification Program(PCCP) is a national pre-qualification service developed by SSPC for facility owners and others who hire industrial painting contractors. SSPC-QP 2 is a supplement to QP 1 and evaluates the competence of contractors to perform industrial hazardous paint in the field.

Minimum Requirements for QP 6 Certified Contractors

SSPC-QP 6 Standard Procedure for Evaluating the Qualifications of Contractors Who Apply Thermal Spray (Metallizing) for Corrosion Protection of Steel and Concrete Structures
