OSHA, NIOSH, EPA to Consider Risk Assessments in Rulemaking
Chemical Exposures Evaluated
The National Institutes of Health (NIOSH) has begun categorizing its study data in a manner that will make it easier to share the results with OSHA since the information cannot be tied to individuals or companies. This will assist OSHA in its goal of better coordinating risk assessments from NIOSH and the EPA into its future rulemakings and will help them avoid conducting duplicate studies about similar risk factors. OSHA’s current risk assessments concern beryllium exposures.
