OSHA Misses Deadlines on Construction Rules on Cranes, Confined Space
Rules could take another three-to-six months to finalize.
OSHA has missed its fall deadlines for revising the crane standard and the confined space rule. Representatives of the crane committee, who completed their work on the standard in July 2004, said that they do not expect the standard to be issued until March or April of 2008. The proposed confined space rules for construction, listed as a top regulatory priority last January and due out in the spring, were published in the Federal Register on Nov. 28. Public comments may be submitted electronically at http://www.regulations.gov through Jan. 28.
