Criminal Charges Filed Against California Contractor
Managers of a California contracting firm will be arraigned this
week in Los Angeles where they face a 14-count criminal complaint
alleging reckless storage of hazardous waste and flammable solvents.
The charge carries a penalty of up to $25,000 for each day of violation
and one year in jail. Agents also discovered a series of potential
contamination violations, including improper storage, disposal,
and labeling of hazardous materials.
The firm was one of eight businesses targeted in a crackdown on
pollution violations in the harbor area south of the city over
the past year.
