NIOSH Report Summarizes Investigations of Workers at Risk of
Exposure to Harmful Levels of Lead
The publication, "Health Hazard Evaluations: Issues Related
to Occupational Exposure to Lead, 1994-1999" (NIOSH pub. 2001-13),
provides an overview of the findings and recommendations from the
individual case reports, as well as key studies, textbooks, and
standards for preventing job-related lead exposures.
It includes an investigation on abrasive blasting that studied
workers' potential to carry home lead-containing dust produced
during removal of lead-based paint from a bridge renovation.

were monitored and projects included painting, rehabilitation, and superstructure
