I became certified as an SSPC Protective Coatings Specialist since--to my knowledge--it is the only achievement recognition available for professionals in our industry. Other organizations offer certification in areas related to protective coatings. However, these organizations do not focus on industrial atmospheric service coatings, per se, as SSPC does.

Certification demonstrates a comprehensive knowledge of protective coatings. I have included my certification on my business card and on letters involving specifications. The certification lends credibility to the services that I provide to users of protective coatings.
