SSPC Japan Chapter Hosts Classes
The SSPC Japan Chapter hosted the Marine Plural Component Program (MPCAC) – held July 17-18, 2008 with 20 students attending and the Water Jetting Program (C-13) – held July 15-16, 2008 with 23 students attending. The instructor for both courses was Tom Jones.

SSPC Indonesia Chapter Hosts PCI
The SSPC Indonesia Chapter hosted two public offerings of its Protective Coatings Inspector course in Batam, Indonesia. The
1st class was held July 7-12, 2008 with 24 students. The
2nd class was held July 14-19, 2008 with 17 students.
The instructors were Tom Jones, Alexander Wijaya,
and Muniandi Dewadas.

NBPI Held in Japan
U.S. Naval Ship Repair Facility & Japan RMC in Yokosuka held their 2nd NBPI June 16-20, 2008 with 19 students. SSPC Training and Technical Program Specialist Jennifer Merck was asked to help implement the revisions to the new NBPI course that was offered on the base for SRF personnel. She also gave a presentation on base about NAVSEA-required SSPC training and other SSPC programs and activities. Instructors for the course were: Taishi Nagata, Tamaki Hori, Makoto Imamura and Hiromi Yamaguchi - all with U.S. Naval Ship Repair Facility-SRF-Japan.

Fundamentals of Protective Coatings (C-1) Held in Trinidad
During the week of May 12-16, 2008, SSPC held its C1 Course in
La Romain, Trinidad. Twenty-Five students attended the course. Instructors for the course were Earl Bowry, EVB Solutions and Rich Burgess, KTA-Tator, Inc.

Protective Coatings Inspector (PCI) Held in Singapore
The first offering of PCI Training was held in Singapore May 7-11, 2008.
There were a total of 26 students. Instructors for the course were industry veterans Tom Jones, SSPC, and M. Dewadas, both of whom have extensive experience in the coatings industry.

Basic Paint Inspector
(NBPI) was hosted by BAE Systems in Honolulu, Hawaii, April 21-25, 2008. There were 24 students in the class. The instructors were Phil Parson and Gordon Kuljian.

SSPC China Chapter Hosts First Training Course
During the week of April 14-18, 2008, the SSPC China Chapter hosted its first SSPC Training Course. 25 students attended the popular Managing Coatings Projects (C-2) held in
Qingdao, China. The instructor was Earl Bowry.

Seattle's Best
Seattle, WA-based Todd Pacific Shipyards recently
held three SSPC training programs. They were, the NAVSEA
Basic Paint Inspector
(NBPI) on April 7–11, 2008; Abrasive Blasting (C7),
April 14–15, 2008; and Water Jetting,
April 16–17, 2008. The instructor was Pete Judt, Todd Pacific Shipyards. This was the first public offering of the Water Jetting Course to be held.
