CAS Level 2 - Interim Status- Certification Documentation and Maintenance
Once workers pass the SSPC Level 2 "interim status" application specialist certification written and practical exams, SSPC will perform the following administrative tasks:
- Maintain documentation of the certification by entering the students into the SSPC database.
- Issue SSPC certificates and photo ID wallet cards for those who have achieved certification.
Certification will be valid for no more than three years and is maintained by:
Successful completion of a minimum of 12 hours per year of training related to the candidates profession, and 500 hours per year of verifiable relevant work experience.
- Member Rate: $250.00 CAS Level 2 Interim Status
- Non-member Rate: $450.00 CAS Level 2 Interim Status
Candidates are required to complete and submit to SSPC a Renewal Packet. CAS L2 Interim Status; 2nd Term - Renewal letters are mailed to the last known address 6 months prior to the re-certification date. Important Note for Interim Status:
SSPC Interim Application Specialist Certification is valid for a maximum of two three-year terms or 6 years. Those wishing to renew their application specialist certification after completion of the second term must take a "Full Status" written exam in order to transfer certification status from "interim" to "full."

Options on How to Recertify:
When it comes time for your CAS Interim Candidates to re-certify in their first three year term you can do the following:
CAS Interim Status First Term
Submit 36 hours total of formal training that the candidate received during the three year term, and 1500 hours of relevant work experience.
- Year 1 of certification = 12 hours
- Year 2 of certification = 12 hours
- Year 3 of certification = 12 hours
Complete and submit the renewal application forms. The cost is $250 for members and $450 for non members. There is no recert written exam to take.
The candidate is then good for one more 3-year term at the CAS Interim Status.
Instead of recertifying your CAS Interim Status you can just move onto the CAS Full Status Program.
You will not need to submit 36 hours total of formal training. You will have to fill out the CAS Full Status pre requisite form. The cost is $175 for members and $275 for non members. Take a 200 question multiple choice written exam.
