SSPC Announces 2020 Board of Governors Election Results

Pittsburgh, PA – SSPC: The Society for Protective Coatings is pleased to announce the results of the 2020 Board of Governors election. There was one open position in the Facility Owner demographic in this year’s election with two candidates vying for the spot.

The winning candidate was:

Francisco Gudiel
Francisco Gudiel, P.E.

Geotechnical & Physical Evaluations Engineer
Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development

Mr. Gudiel was born in El Salvador, Central America and attended Louisiana State University from 1980 to 1984 where he received a B.S. Degree in Civil Engineering with a minor in Industrial Engineering. He is a licensed Civil and Environmental Engineer in the State of Louisiana. Gudiel has been with the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (LADOTD) for over 27 years, and his experience and interest have been in the design, construction and rehabilitation of structures. He has served as the Department’s technical expert for paint and corrosion issues since 1993.

Mr. Gudiel’s term will begin on July 1, 2020 and he will be part of the board for the combined SSPC-NACE organization when it officially launches in 2021. He replaces Mana Al-Mansour who held the position for the past four years.

In other board news, July 1 also represents the change of board officers. On that date, Joyce Wright of Huntington Ingalls Industries – Newport News Shipbuilding will become President, Sam Scaturro of Alpine Painting & Sandblasting Contractors will become President-Elect, Ross Boyd of TruQC will become Vice President, and Joseph Walker of Elcometer, Inc. will become Immediate Past President.

SSPC would like to thank Mr. Al-Mansour for his service and leadership over the past four years as well as Mr. Walker for his guidance as President over the past year.
